Design Settings
Read this guide before designing. Understanding the dieline structure ensures your artwork aligns correctly with every panel, fold, and closure zone.
A dieline is the flat, unfolded 2D map of a corrugated box before it is cut, scored, and assembled. Every panel — Front, Back, Left Side, Right Side, and all 8 flaps — is visible in a single flat view.
This tool generates a live dieline from your L × W × H inputs in millimetres, auto-calculates flap sizes, and lets you place artwork (text, shapes, logos, images) directly on top, ready to export as PNG, SVG, or PDF.
A standard RSC (Regular Slotted Container) layout from left to right: Glue Tab → Side 1 → Front → Side 2 → Back
- Front & Back
- Primary branding — logos, product name (L × H mm)
- Side 1 & Side 2
- Secondary panels — barcodes, certifications (W × H mm)
- Top Flaps ×4
- Close the top; flap height = H ÷ 2 (auto-calculated)
- Bottom Flaps ×4
- Mirror of top flaps; bottom of the box
- Glue Tab
- LEFT side — where glue is applied during assembly
- Cut Line
- Solid dark line — die-cutting machine cuts THROUGH the board here.
- Fold Line
- Dashed red line — scoring wheel creases but does NOT cut, allowing a clean right-angle fold.
Safe zone: Keep artwork at least 5mm from fold lines and 8mm from cut lines.
- Gluing
- Hot-melt or cold adhesive bonds the glue tab. Most common for RSC boxes.
- Stitching
- Heavy-gauge metal staples. Used for heavy-duty boxes.
- Tuck-in
- Flaps die-cut with curved locking tab — no adhesive needed. Ideal for retail display.
- Colour Mode
- Always convert RGB → CMYK before sending to press.
- Resolution
- Flexo: 150–200 DPI. Offset litho: 200–300 DPI.
- Bleed
- Add minimum 3mm bleed on all cut edges.
- File Format
- Export SVG from this tool, open in Illustrator to separate dieline layer.
